
MILFORD — Two people were taken to the hospital following a head-on crash with a tanker truck Wednesday morning just outside Milford.
According to local authorities, emergency crews were dispatched at 10:41 a.m. to a collision near 517 South Higbee Street, where a silver Ford Escape traveling south lost control on icy road conditions while negotiating a curve. The vehicle crossed the center line and struck a Shirk Transport LLC tanker truck head-on.
Both vehicles were heavily damaged in the impact. The driver of the tanker truck was not hurt in the crash, but the driver and their passenger in the SUV were evaluated by Milford Fire Department EMS at the scene and then transported by ambulance to Goshen Hospital with injuries sustained in the collision.
Tow services were called to clear the wreckage and reopen the roadway. Crouse Wrecker Service removed the damaged SUV, and Reichert & Knepp Inc. Wrecker Service assisted in recovering the tanker truck.
Traffic in the area was temporarily halted while emergency responders worked at the scene and cleared both vehicles.
